There are no records to substantiate the claim, but the family is found in the 1870 Census as the Crave' family. My assumption is that Alfred P. Craves (Du Pont) passed this story on to the rest of the family. Alfred Craves was the son of Alfred DuPont, but his sister Helen was the daughter of Joseph Crave'. He was born circa 1840 at Canada. He married Adeline Lambert, daughter of Pierre Lambert and Josephine Lucie Globensky, circa 1865. Alfred Pierre Jacques DuPont died circa 1870 at Tonawanda, Erie, New York. |
